Why did we do that?
You can blame it all on me. For the Season of Easter, we have switched out the Gloria Patri to All Creatures of Our God and King. Originally All Creatures was a poem written by St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis loved nature and animals a he saw God’s presence in them.
Easter is a celebration of Resurrection and new life. This hymn is a testimony to both. In the beginning of Lent, we bury the alleluias, not to be said until Easter morning. In this hymn we get to say Alleluia several times. Yeah!
Our hymnal lists 6 verses so we will sing one verse each week. On May 12 we will sing all six verses. On Pentecost (May 19) we will return to the Gloria Patri.
May is the month we welcome new members to our Ministry Teams. To the out-going members, thank you for your service to our church. Thank you to Darlene Riddle for her outstanding job as Moderator. Not always an easy task.
SecondFirst Church is so blessed to have such wonderful volunteers. Here’s to a great year!
