Hi Church,
Sunday is Earth Day! You are most welcome to come play in the dirt as we prepare the Jeremiah Development garden for the season at 1:30 p.m.
We have recently formed a Creation Justice Coalition–thanks to the leadership of Linda Mohaupt! What exactly does this mean? This is the group focusing on environmental sustainability. We are puzzling over everything from how the church can use less energy to whether or not we can get Beef-a-Roo to recycle. Action on changing lights in the church to LED has already begun thanks to Jim Delmore.
Creation? Yes, you can believe God that created and sustains this whole universe and still trust our scientists who are learning more and more about how that is. Did you see NASA launch a new satellite into orbit that will take pictures of our closest stars looking for other planets that might sustain life? I watched the amazing venture with my family—it’s worth googling.
God is so good to us. And the Earth is God’s best gift for us. May we love it and cherish it and do all we can to support it. So turn off the water while you are brushing your teeth, recycle that thing even though it is easier to put it in the trash, and support your favorite organization that is working to keep our Earth clean and green (and blue).
Peace to you,
Rebecca
